12th March

China/Taiwan Arbor Day (for tree planting. The Chinese national tree is the Gingko biloba, which some gardens and parks might have; see if there are any seeds to collect and plant)

Grækarismessa: Faroe Islands – these are some way above Scotland, and owned by Denmark. They still run whaling hunts; and their cultural institute, Nordic House, was built to look like a hill of elves.

They are famous for their knitted jumpers, so maybe try some finger knitting using thick yarn with older kids.

This festival is the feast of St Gregory.

Gabon Renovation Day – see 17th August

Mauritius National Day – the home of the Dodo!
